As Windermere Marina Regatta Series draws to a close for 2013, this series of special sailing regattas has cemented itself as one of the Lake District's key events for the annual racing calendar.

Six monthly sessions made up this year's Regatta Series, getting underway in April and rounded off by the finale on Saturday 28 September - bathed in glorious sunshine. The regatta events attracted a range of sailing boats, with a full mix of vessels between 20ft and 40ft long taking to the water.

As well as being open to members of Windermere Cruising Association, anyone with a yacht moored at Windermere Marina Village was eligible to take part.

Dan Fairweather, Marina Manager, says, "It's been a great regatta series this year and the organisation and enthusiasm of those involved in the Windermere Cruising Association has been fantastic. The events have definitely stoked up some healthy competition and we're hoping to return next year for the 2014 Windermere Marina Sailing Regatta Series, along with some more relaxed outings for those wanting to give it a try for the first time!"

Centrally located near Bowness on a quiet inlet just off England's longest lake, Windermere Marina Village has 400 moorings which provide a safe and secure environment for sailing boats and motor cruisers all year-round.
