SailEAST Series at Crouch Yacht Club

SailEAST 2011 gets off to a flying start

The hugely successful SailEAST series supported by Hutton Construction as Principle Sponsor and HCC Insurance, began another year at the Crouch Yacht Club on the weekend of the 28/29th May for that unique combination of intensive short course racing and onshore activity.

The Crouch Yacht Club acted as the perfect hosts and welcomed entrants from all along the East Coast for what promised to be another great weekend of racing, with the Race Officer promising to keep everyone entertained and busy!

Class 1 was as usual very competitive with all of the entrants looking to kick off their 2011 SailEAST season with a win. Over the 3 races, there were wins for Robbie and Pippa Stewart’s Booty!, Ian Langston’s The Geek and Kiss, skippered by David Pinner. So on the Sunday there was everything to play for going into the final race and Booty! Was able to secure the Class win ahead of The Geek.

Class 2 had the largest number of entrants and it was dominated by John Edwards and his crew on Red Macaw who scored 3 wins our of the 3 races over the weekend. But the result didn’t show how close the racing was with Who’s to no, Elixir and Amazon all scoring top 3 finishes.

Class 3 was dominated by Harlequin with 3 wins and Class 4 saw an equally consistent weekend from Paul Drew and his crew on Harvest Moon – with again 3 wins out of 3.

With everyone back in the bar after a great weekend of sailing and entertainment from the Crouch Yacht Club, the Overall results saw Harvest Moon take 1st place followed by Booty! In 2nd. The Geek was close behind in 3rd with Red Macaw just two points adrift in 4th.

Congratulations to Harvest Moon for a great result and thanks to everyone at the CYC for hosting the event. The full results can be seen on the SailEAST website – www.saileast.org. The next SailEAST event is on the Medway on the 18/19th June.
