GP14 Midland Bell Series at Banbury Sailing Club

by Tim Matthews 20 Jul 2010 19:37 BST 18 July 2010

Banbury SC held its GP14 open meeting on Sunday 18 July. There were 19 boats on the water, 12 of those visitors, representing 10 different midlands clubs. For the first time in many years the Banbury boats were outnumbered!

The wind was fairly constant F4/5 from the SW allowing PDO Tim Bury, to use the full extent of the lake.

The first 2 races were dominated by the Visitors with Neil Davis & Adam Froggatt (Chase) clocking up a 1st & 3rd, Carl Jeffs & Steve Parker (Trimpley) 2nd & 1st with Paul Levers & Nigel Spur (Midland) 3rd & 2nd.

In the 3rd race the first 3 positions were once again taken by visitors. Neil & Adam were 1st with Matt Thursfield & Sarah Alan (Chelmsmarsh) 2nd and Peter Jacoud & Peter Tate (Chase) 3rd. 1st Banbury boat was David Bolton-King & Lucy Hoyte in 7th.

I would like to give my sincere thanks to Rebecca, Pat & Kevin for looking after the Bar & Galley, and Tim Bury, PDO and all duty crew.
