I've also seen photos of the Princess Royal sailing Icarus, the foil borne Tornado. And yes, the headscarf...

I like the way some people are giving their claim to fame (no names!!) Yet the thread is about which celebrities sail!
My girlfriend sailed with paralympic sailor, Hannah Aries(?) years ago before she was in the squads. Shame it didn't rub off on her! |

She opened our clubhouse (Pennine) in 1992, we have a photo on the wall of her walking up the slipway, yes - with headscarf! I wonder if it's welded to her head? Possibly a bit of a tenuous connection, but a lot of the scenes for Last of the Summer Wine were filmed at Pennine, like when they made a boat out of a tin bath or a windsurfer out of an ironing board. The actors sort of sailed, so would you class them as celebrity sailors? |

was there a headscarf present? I doubt any of you remember Howard's Way - it was a solent based Sunday night drama akin to Heartbeat etc. It used to have hysterical scenes of the cast 'sailing' in absolutely no wind, all togged up in full foul weather gear, lifejackets the works. Their boats moved surprisingly quickly too..... (and we never saw the tow rope....) |
