Zeb Elliott, ex-Olympic sailor and joint managing director of marine hardware manufacturer Holt, joins Seldén Mast UK at the end of this month as managing director. Elliott takes over from David Potter, who announced his retirement this week.
Potter established Kemp Masts back in 1968, and sold the company to Seldén in 1976. It continued to trade under Kemp’s name until the late 80’s, and it is as Managing Director for Seldén Mast UK he continues to work until this September. In 1997 The Seldén Group acquired Proctor Mast Limited, which led to centralising operations in Park Gate, Southampton.
Business graduate Elliott has spent the last three years at Holt, where he was appointed to develop the company’s product range and boosts its sales and brand awareness. In addition to hardware and yacht fittings, he also took responsible for the company’s Spar range.
“It’s not easy to find someone you trust to hand ‘your business’ over to, explains Potter. “I looked long and hard to find a person who had the leadership skills, experience and knowledge to run Seldén UK. There was one person who stood out from the others, and that was Zeb.”
Elliott joins Seldén UK at the end of July, when he will work alongside Potter to provide a seamless handover.
Comments Elliott, “David will be missed by staff and customers alike, he has left me with a strong company in great shape for which I am very grateful and with the Seldén Group’s long term commitment to growth and investment globally the UK business is set to continue to grow from strength to strength.”
Potter plans to fulfil his dream of cruising the Mediterranean with his wife on their Moody 46.
