Peter Harrison's GBR Challenge today proudly announced Nautica Watches as the official timing partners to the team. To commemorate the partnership, Nautica has designed a limited edition watch, the NS-83, which was inspired by the J-Class yachts which competed for the America's Cup in the 1930s. Each GBR Challenge team member will be sporting the watch throughout the America's Cup competition, using its many functions to help them keep track of their progress during each race.
Scott Wolfe, International Brand Manager for Nautica Watches, said, "Sailing has always been associated with the Nautica name, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to be part of the GBR Challenge team. With the exception of polar regions and outer space, no other environment tests a watch like the sea. In development for months, the NS-83 Class meets the challenge. Unmistakable with its signature logo on the crystal, this special timepiece fuses function and fashion perfectly".
The NS-83 is durable, functional and contemporary and can track up to three boats simultaneously. It has a countdown feature with four timers and beepers to ensure the GBR Challenge sailors have split-second timing for the start of each race. Commenting on the new partners, Jules Salter, GBR
Challenge tactician, said, "In the America's Cup, timing is obviously of utmost importance to us. It's great to have Nautica to rely on both on and off the water."
