Volvo RYA National Youth Squad selected

by Royal Yachting Association 6 Apr 2002 09:20 BST

Following this weeks Volvo RYA Youth Championships and Trials, 92 talented young sailors have been selected for the 2002 Volvo RYA National Youth Squad. The sailors will benefit from top level coaching and sports science support during the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) series of National Squad Training Camps, sailors also receive the prized squad jacket recognising their outstanding achievement of gaining selection for the Youth Squad.

"I have been really impressed with the overall standard of sailing over the last week, it has been of a very high quality and therefore made the selection process a very hard one. It is a shame that we can not select everybody, but it is important for those sailors that were not selected to keep going and keep practicing, to hopefully join us next year," commented RYA Youth Racing Manager Steve Joel, who went on to say "I am looking forward to working with this group of sailors and to achieving results in the future at international youth events."

Congratulations to all the sailors that were selected.
