Icicle Series at Tees and Hartlepool Yacht Club - Week 4

by Dave Kitchen 27 Nov 2001 07:22 GMT

A blustery morning met the competitors on Sunday for the fourth weekend of racing in the Tees and Hartlepool Yacht Clubs' Icicle series. The entry was slightly depleted following the annual laying up dinner and dance held the previous evening. Many of the competitors that attended the dinner were sporting hangovers to match that of the duty officer.

Racing was held this weekend in "bird island bay" as the level of water in the Jackson dock was too low for launch and recovery for rescue craft and competitors dinghys.

Dave Spensley recovered his form to stamp domination in the testing conditions as the wind veered and backed wildly. Some moderate gusts provided entertainment for the growing band of spectators, as there were many capsizes and swamped dinghys.
