H22 History

The H22 (designed by GBR Challenge design member Rob Humphreys) was born out from a long range of designs; the Flyer, Ultra 30 and the Freemantle 28. Its design is one of simplicity and elegance and practicality. It has the handling of a dinghy but the stability of a much larger vessel.

  • LOA - 6.700m
  • LWL - 6.101m
  • BEAM - 2.500m
  • DRAFT - 1.555m
  • BALLAST - 325kg

Prefix System

In the mid-Nineties Rob Humphreys and Jim Moore developed the Prefix System of boat construction, a highly accurate, plug-together process that created significant time savings and enabled amateurs to build what would otherwise be extremely ambitious projects. Using laser-cut plywood with less than millimetre tolerance, the mission achieved was to allow structures to be dry-assembled in a self-jigging arrangement, allowing the builder to start glueing at his leisure. A number of designs were produced for the Prefix System, the first being the H22.
