GP14 Open Meeting at North Staffs Sailing Club

Sunday 29th April 2001

This event was scheduled to be round three of fifteen, but due to the foot and mouth epidemic, round two at Nantwich and Border Counties has been rescheduled to a later date.

A good day was had by all. The weather held up for the most part, with the wind up and down which led to some interesting sailing.

There were fifteen entrants for the day and with only ten days notice of clearance to sail, this was pretty good for our small club.

The wind was from a favourable easterly direction, giving some consistency The day was forecast to be extremely hot, 30 degrees Celsius plus, with light winds. Club organisers had identified likely risks associated with the heat and had planned measures to mitigate any risk of heat/sun stroke to sailors and supporting duty crew. Number 20 'Miss Daisy' was able to return home Shropshire Sailing Club was founded 75 years ago with the purchase of the second group of ten GP14s ever made. A favourite venue of the class doesn't disappoint The 2025 Munster Championship returned to Cullaun Sailing Club, the centre of Munster Sailing and the recent recipients of Irish Sailing's Club of the Year. The day proved that you really can have a blast at Budworth! A very memorable day was had by all at Budworth on Sunday 1st June in what turned out to be an eventful GP14 Open Meeting.
