In a major step toward its highly anticipated 2028 Legacy Run, the Organizing Authority for the iconic Worrell 1000 offshore catamaran race has announced a comprehensive, global orientation seminar. The interactive briefing will be broadcast live on the official Worrell 1000 Facebook page on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM EST.

The virtual town hall is strategically timed ahead of the holiday season to arm prospective athletes, team managers, and shore personnel with critical logistical data well in advance of the official May 1, 2027 registration launch.

The event will be hosted by Principal Race Officer (PRO) John Williams, who will present an in-depth slide deck detailing the immense operational, financial, and physical realities of the 1,000-mile Atlantic surf gauntlet. Key topics will include campaign budgeting, shore crew navigation, multi-state logistics, and safety protocols. Unlike traditional restricted athletic briefings, this broadcast is completely open to the public, allowing fans and media partners a rare look behind the curtain of extreme offshore racing.

"We conducted a similar briefing for the 2022 race via a private Zoom call, but moving to Facebook Live allows us to embed our massive public fan base directly into the process," said Williams. "The Worrell 1000 is entirely a community-driven event. Giving our global followers a ringside seat to the planning stages strengthens the spirit of the race and bridges the gap between the competitors and the spectators on the sand."

Designed to accommodate the race's extensive international footprint, the live broadcast time translates to a convenient late-afternoon or early-evening slot across North America, and approximately 9:00 AM on Sunday, November 22nd, for Australian fleets. Recognizing that the timing presents a late-night challenge for European campaigns, the Organizing Authority will archive the full, unedited presentation on the Worrell 1000 Facebook page for 30 days of on-demand viewing.

During the broadcast, online participants will be able to submit questions directly through the live chat. To foster a highly collaborative environment, select competitors and team managers will be invited directly onto the live broadcast screen to consult face-to-face with Williams and the race management team. With the 2028 fleet size strictly capped at 20 boats, organizers expect slots to fill rapidly upon opening next May. Competitors, team managers, and land crews are strongly encouraged to attend this orientation to finalize their corporate sponsorship pitches and physical training schedules.
