On Monday 28th September 2026 Twenty sailors appeared on the start line at Chipstead SC lake to contest Race 6 of the DF95 Met & Southern Travellers Open Meeting.

The Light Wind was generally from the North North East with some slight variation indirection and strength. A beat and run course was set by Race Officers Robert Owens and Michael Kostiw, making use of our radio controlled buoy on the start line.

Peter Crisp welcomed the fleet and Rob Owens briefing outlined the usual topics and emphasising the starting and revised port tack rule regarding approach to the windward mark within the zone. Racing then commenced at 10:00am.

With Robert Owens and Michael Kostiw on the start and finish lines. Race one started with a general recall, once away the boats followed by our standard two laps with a beat to the finish. Nigel Barrow coming out on top followed closely by Dave Adams and Stuart Ord-Hume of Chipstead SC Radio Sailing.

Nigel Barrow then went on to win the next five races with consistent finishes for Dave Adams, Barrie Martin and Colin Honour. One of the races resulted in a number of general recalls with the Race Officers imposing a Black Flags. Several boats were then disqualified for being in the triangle area.

After Seven races Lunch was taken at 12:15 in the Chipstead SC Club House. After lunch the light breeze continued, fortunately in the same direction so the course remained the same.

The afternoon session resulted in wins by a Barrie Martin, Dave Adams, Mike Lightwing and David Thorn-Large, with consistent results by Colin Honour Nigel Barrow and Andrew French. Sailing was then over.

Competitors packed boats and sails away, the race team packed the marker buoys and rescue boat away whilst the afternoons race results were entered in HMS. Tea and cake was taken in the clubhouse and sailors chatted.

The prize-giving began with the Peter Crisp thanking the Race Officers team of Robert Owens, Michael Kostiw for their considerable contribution in providing a successful open meeting.

He also thanked the competitors for the good spirit in which they had sailed all day. The starts and sailing had been highly competitive in the light variable winds.

Nigel Barrow then spoke to thanks Chipstead SC Radio Sailing for running a good event thanking all those who had helped.
