IOM Summer Series Round 12 at Lincoln Radio Sailing Club

A lively morning greeted the 8 skippers - sunshine and a brisk B-suit breeze from just North of West. In the absence of an OOD, Tim got stuck in to sort a great beat-and-run course on the South bank.
Martyn was straight into his stride with his BritPop, taking the first race in style. Tim was having radio problems and that did him no favours, Micky Boy was struggling to get the right set up after his outing to the ranking races in Kent, and Jen was having rig problems but stuck at it.
Kevin E 87 took the next race (another Brit Pop) and after his 2nd place in the DF 95 Nationals a few weeks ago he was keen to show it was not just blip. Martyn, as always, keeping his scores low claimed a second spot. Colin H 77 was a slow starter today but looking at the scores he got better as the morning wore on.
Jeff C 18 thought it was his birthday when he got a second spot in the first race, and is definitely getting the hang of tuning his Venti. In fact Mark N 80 got a third in that race, but then slipped away with his Alioth.
Micky Boy 46 then finally got his tune right and took the next two races and a second in the first race after the break, being pipped by Martyn. The two battled hard in every race, but gradually Martyn could not be touched from race 9 and, with winning the last two races, sealed MickyBoy's fate of becoming the bridesmaid. Tim never really sorted his problem but after his change to A rig he fared a little better.
It was a great morning racing in almost perfect conditions, and our congratulations must go to Martyn for the win, and our many thanks to everyone who helped put all the gear away at the end of racing.
Look forward to seeing more of you on the water for the start of the Winter series in October.
