J/70 Mixed-Plus World Championship 2026 at Royal Danish Yacht Club - Day 3

The J/70 Mixed-Plus World Championship, hosted by the Royal Danish Yacht Club, completed three more races Friday, bringing the Championship total to nine.
With two scheduled races remaining Saturday, Joan Cardona Mendez's Yupi (ESP) continues to lead the 38-boat fleet representing 13 countries.
Cardona Mendez's Yupi, winner of the inaugural J/70 Mixed-Plus World Championship in 2025, has built a strong 25-point advantage atop the overall standings with 23 net points. Kim Christensen's Soffe (DEN) is second with 48 points, while Sten Mohr's Lady in Red (DEN) is only slightly farther back in third with 49.9 points. The battle remains tight behind the podium. Simon Perry's Jiraffe (GBR) and Till Krüger's Jane (GER) are tied on 54 points in fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Corinthian division represents a significant and impressive part of the fleet, with 28 boats competing for the title. Christensen's Soffe leads the all-amateur standings while also holding second overall. Krüger's Jane (GER) is second in Corinthian, followed by Nevra Eker's Eker Efsane Yogurt (TUR).
In addition to its overall lead, Yupi is currently at the top of the One-Pro subdivision. The team's consistency has kept it firmly in control despite a challenging eighth race of the series. In Race 7, Yupi took the win ahead of Hedvig Liljegren's Apotea (SWE) and Mohr's Lady in Red. Liljegren's Apotea took line honors in Race 8, followed by Marc Keene's Rascal (DEN) and Perry's Jiraffe. Cardona Mendez and crew returned to the top in Race 9, ahead of James Murray's Callisto (USA) and Apotea (whose scores were adjusted following a technical protest and corresponding DPI penalty for all races).
Nevra Eker's Eker Efsane Yogurt (TUR) heads the all-female crew division, while Zsuzsanna Éva Gál's Padzsi (HUN) has moved into the lead in the female helm division. Simon Kaiser's Icebörg (SUI) currently tops the youth division.
The Mixed-Plus format requires each crew to consist of four or more people and permits no more than two males over 18 years of age. This format is designed to create competitive opportunities for a broad range of sailors while placing a strong emphasis on female and youth participation.
