The adventure continues. As Official Timekeeper of the 'Everest of the Seas', the Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin has confirmed its commitment to the next edition, in 2028.
This is not merely an extension, but a natural union: that of a House born of exploration and a race that has become the stuff of legend. The commitment is total, encompassing the circuit's major challenges: the Vendée Arctique - Les Sables d'Olonne (2026) and the New York Vendée - Les Sables d'Olonne (2028).
A lasting legacy
Founded in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland, the Manufacture quickly made its mark thanks to its high-precision timepieces, essential for maritime exploration and adopted by the world's leading navies as well as by scientists in geodesy, astronomy and the Earth sciences. Today, this pioneering spirit sets the pace for this round-the-world race, accompanying every mile of this extraordinary challenge. The Vendée Globe - a solo, non-stop, unassisted round-the-world sailing race - is the ultimate testing ground for a brand that champions pushing one's limits, resilience and human ambition.
Beyond the time: a pact with the ocean
Performance is worth nothing without commitment. Because, just like the Vendée Globe, it is firmly committed to sustainability, Ulysse Nardin is turning its commitment into action.
During the last edition, the Manufacture unveiled the Diver NET Vendée Globe watch, the most sustainable watch ever designed - a veritable laboratory for experimenting with innovative materials, incorporating a remarkable selection of recycled and upcycled materials, such as CarbonFoil, an upcycled material made from carbon fibre production offcuts from the manufacture of monohull foils (CDK Technologies, an expert in IMOCA construction), and NyloFoil, a hybrid material made from Nylo® derived from recycled fishing nets from Les Sables d'Olonne.
By renewing this commitment until 2028, Ulysse Nardin reaffirms its position as a leader in the modern maritime odyssey. Alongside major solo races, the brand continues to write an extraordinary human and sporting epic, combining the pursuit of personal limits with an exploration of the depths.
Quotes:
Alain Leboeuf, President of the Vendée Globe, the Vendée Arctique - Les Sables d'Olonne, the New York Vendée - Les Sables d'Olonne and the Vendée Department: "I am delighted to renew, for the third consecutive time, our partnership with Ulysse Nardin as the official timekeeper for the 2028 edition of the Vendée Globe. By renewing this partnership, the Vendée Globe and Ulysse Nardin are jointly reaffirming their commitment to the maritime world and its challenges, to great human adventures and to the preservation of the oceans - values that are central to the identity of our race and its region."
Matthieu Haverlan, Managing Director of Ulysse Nardin: "We are very proud to have renewed our partnership with the Vendée Globe for a third consecutive edition. Marine exploration is in Ulysse Nardin's DNA, and our mission is to inspire human ambition. The Vendée Globe, the world's only solo, non-stop and unassisted sailing race, fully embodies these values, as well as the spirit of pushing one's limits and resilience."
