Oxford Sailing Club - Sixty Years Chasing the Wind: Episode 2

by Colin West 24 Jul 12:53 BST

Oxford Sailing Club's 60th anniversary windsurfing film celebrates nearly five decades of boardsailing at Farmoor Reservoir. Featuring past and present members, volunteer instructors, and messages from former Olympic windsurfer Tom Squires, the video highlights the club's unique mix of grassroots participation, youth development, racing excellence and community spirit.

From the raceboard pioneers of the 1980s to today's foiling generation, it tells the story of how a volunteer-led club continues to inspire new windsurfers and produce talent on the national and international stage.

Colin West, Commodore comments: "Board sailing transformed Oxford Sailing Club. What was once viewed by some as a challenge to traditional sailing has become one of our greatest success stories. Windsurfers are now a major part of club life, creating a self-sustaining community of volunteers, instructors, racers and recreational sailors.

"The result is a thriving environment that has introduced thousands of people to the sport and helped produce Olympic talent along the way."
