Ramsgate Week 2026 at Royal Temple Yacht Club - Series Race 2

Tuesday's (21st July) race, the second of the five race series, was very much like Monday's race for most with the same gentle benign northerly wind with a south going tide, and the same winners in each class from a short windward-leeward course after an initial fetch to CH2 via North Quern.
Indeed in local handicap class 7 the whole podium repeated itself. Bernard Sealy's Karibia Breezes winning from Mark Andrews and Jonathan Hague's Avventure and Susan Anderson's Impulse.
An exception was Class 8, redesignated YTC class 6, where Mondays winner, the Owens, Mayne, Gardner Link 30 Zorra swapped places with James Bradneys Mullins 23 Monarch. The modified Eboat Zigge, 3rd on Manday, slipped to fourth with John Barnard's Greenwich & Poolbeg based Limbo 6.6 LoFlyer taking third.
The combined YTC 4, 5 & 6 emulated Class 7 with the same podium, Mike & Jo Brands X-40 Fox out the Box taking the chocolates by 14 minutes from Gary Walters J97 Jura, both Royal Temple YC boats. Andrew French et al's Medway YC Dehler 34 Zephyros was again third but this time with father and daughter two-handed team James & Lizzie Fisher in the Channel Islands registered Dufour 36 Loki, again ahead of Nick Moulton's Sun Fast 3200 Dabtoe out of Royal Norfolk & Suffolk YC.
IRC, the largest class, again saw Peter & Alex Jackson's locally based Pronavia 42 Assassin build up a substantial lead beating against the tide, which she held to the finish of the shortened course. Behind was a close fight in the shifty wind between the next seven boats for the lower podium places.
Eventually Simon Clifton's A31 Aztec got away to claim second, with Simon Northrop's Melges 24 Lock Stock, having not been OCS for the first time correcting third, just ahead of the low rated X99 Xpedite. Stiletto was another 3 minutes adrift ahead of a tie between the modified Cork 1720 Flying Pig and Corby 33 Imposter.
