ILCA 6 Youth European Championships and Open European Trophy 2026 in Thessaloniki - Day 5

by Agustín Argüelles 18 Jul 14:22 BST 13-18 July 2026

Late Start But Two Races Completed in Light Wind

Racing started later than planned on Day 5 of the 2026 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy, with a lack of wind delaying the start by an hour in Thessaloniki.

The boys' fleets eventually got under way at 16:00, with the girls' fleets following around 20 minutes later, as light breeze of 5 to 8 knots persisted through much of the afternoon, picking up slightly in the closing races of the day.

Despite the delay, the Race Committee managed to complete both scheduled races for all fleets, bringing the championship total to 10 races with one day of racing still to come.

Sailors were welcomed back to the club with a pasta meal after racing.

What's Next

The championship concludes tomorrow, 18 July, with the final races of the series and the prize-giving ceremony. Stay tuned to EurILCA's channels for live updates from the courses and the full daily report.
