Long Beach once again delivered world-class racing conditions Tuesday as sunshine, steady afternoon sea breezes and flat-water conditions challenged more than 100 of the world's top Olympic windsurfers and kiteboarders competing in the 2026 Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta (LBOCR).
As the final stop of the 2026 Sailing Grand Slam, the regatta has attracted an elite international field eager to measure themselves against the world's best while gaining invaluable experience on the future LA28 Olympic racecourse.
"Today's racing showcased Southern California at its finest, with steady afternoon sea breezes providing the perfect test of the athletes' resilience, tactical decision-making and boat-handling skills," said Fred Hagedorn, USA Director of the Sailing Grand Slam.
"The spectacular sight of high-speed Formula Kites soaring above the water alongside the flying iQFOiL windsurfers off Belmont Shore and the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier offered a glimpse of what spectators can expect during the LA28 Olympic Games. It was a vivid reminder of why Long Beach is recognized as one of the world's premier Olympic sailing venues and how the city will showcase the full excitement and athleticism of Olympic sailing to a global audience."
Now halfway through the four-day regatta, the battle for podium positions is intensifying across all four Olympic fleets.
