Vaikobi British Finn National Championship 2026 at Brixham Yacht Club - Day 1

by Robert Deaves 4 Jul 11:21 BST 3-5 July 2026

Matt Howard has taken the early lead at the Vaikobi British Finn National Championship at Brixham YC. He won the first two races before finishing a close second to Cameron Tweedle in the third race. Tweedle ended the day in second with Pete McCoy in third.

Howard was always in the leading pack at the top mark but worked his way through to the front in all three races. In the final race Tweedle picked the final shift perfectly to cross just a few boat lengths ahead.

The British Nationals, sponsored by sailperformance.co.uk and Vaikobi, is Leg 4 of the WTF Grand Slam series. 36 Finn sailors are present in Brixham. The event continues to Sunday with some challenging winds forecast over the next two days.
