Over the past two weeks, the Marine Jobs program has delivered a range of targeted engagement activities across schools and communities, continuing to build awareness of marine career pathways and strengthen connections between education and industry.
A recent highlight was the Scarborough Marina Immersion Day, which brought together 45 students from three schools across the Redcliffe region. The day was supported by 10 local marine trade businesses, providing students with direct exposure to real-world marine operations and career opportunities. Participants engaged in hands-on activities and conversations with industry professionals, gaining valuable insight into apprenticeship pathways, technical roles, and broader marine careers.
The event was delivered in collaboration with key partners including TAFE Queensland, MEGT, and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, ensuring a strong, coordinated approach to career pathway education. Special thanks go to the team at Scarborough Marina, whose leadership and support were instrumental delivering a fun and informative day for the students.
Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly from the Regional Schools and Industry Partnership (RSIP) team, QLD Dept of State Development. Education Queensland expressed a strong interest in expanding the Marine Immersion model to additional marina locations across Queensland.
