The latest episode of SailGP's behind-the-scenes docuseries, Racing on the Edge, produced in partnership with Rolex, takes viewers inside one of the most significant milestones in the championship's history - SailGP's long-awaited debut in South America.

Episode 3 'This is Us' is available to watch now on SailGP's YouTube here and via broadcasters around the world.

Set against the backdrop of the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix, the episode follows the Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team through a landmark weekend, introducing SailGP to a new racing-mad audience, while competing in front of a home crowd for the first time.

For Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team CEO Alan Adler, the occasion extends far beyond competition. "This event means a lot for our country," he says. "As a Brazilian, you feel really proud that your country has become part of such an exclusive global calendar and that people can see first-hand how important this event is for the rest of the world."

The episode captures just how quickly months of anticipation can be tested. A technical issue prevents the Brazilian F50 from reaching the start line for the opening two races, leaving the home team unable to compete as the event gets under way. Rather than focusing solely on the setback itself, Racing on the Edge explores the resilience required to regroup under immense pressure, while thousands of fans wait to see their home team take to the water.

Through exclusive behind-the-scenes access, viewers gain an intimate insight into the mindset of athletes and support staff navigating one of the most emotionally charged weekends of the season. Martine Grael, leader of the Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team and two-time Olympic champion, reflects candidly on the challenge of competing on home waters - admitting that confidence has never come naturally.

"I've never been the most confident person, and I don't know if I've ever completely overcome that," she says. "But to compete in something as big as SailGP you need to dress up as a different character. This is the first time I am racing SailGP at home so obviously there is a lot of responsibility. I need to keep being myself, but I also need to have a thicker skin."

Beyond the racing, the episode explores what SailGP's arrival in Brazil means for the future of the sport across South America. From the atmosphere on the shoreline to the emotion of finally racing in front of a home crowd, SailGP's arrival in Rio inspires a new audience through one of the fastest-growing championships in global sport.

Fans can experience the action in person when the Rolex SailGP Championship arrives in the UK for the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix | Portsmouth taking place from July 25-26. Following a sold-out debut in 2025, fans are urged to secure their tickets to avoid disappointment. For tickets and information, visit SailGP.com/Portsmouth.
