While the Figaro 3s—the technological jewels of offshore sailing—continue their spectacular and arduous journey across the Mediterranean with their bows pointed toward Syracuse, anticipation on land is already feverish.

The boats are testing the crews' endurance, engaged in constant tactical maneuvering to capture every breath of wind and win the Sicilian stage of the Giro d'Italia Vela. But while on the open sea the challenge is a matter of knots and strategy, on land the party has already officially begun.

The Sailing Village on the seafront has been inaugurated

Two days ago, Friday, June 19th, Syracuse's splendid seafront received a makeover, transforming itself into the beating heart of the event. The event's shore team has completed the setup of the Sailing Village, a true hub of sport, culture, and entertainment that will remain open to the public and all enthusiasts for the entire duration of the stopover on the island. The Village will not only be a privileged observation point for the regatta, but also a hub for the city, thanks to a packed calendar of events, meetings, and interactive activities for adults and children alike.

A magical atmosphere: The contrast between the blue of the Syracusan sea and the colors of the stands immediately captured the attention of residents and tourists, ushering in the event with the best possible auspices.

Music, tradition, and institutions on stage

The opening afternoon provided strong emotions for those in attendance, combining the allure of sport with the solemnity of the institutions and the liveliness of local culture. Breaking the ice and making the Syracusan atmosphere vibrate was the prestigious Palermo Carabinieri Band, which thrilled the audience with a masterful repertoire, combining institutional pride with great music. Immediately afterward, the stage exploded with energy thanks to performances by numerous Syracusan music and dance groups, showcasing the talent, rhythm, and traditions of the area, transforming the sunset on the waterfront into a grand open-air show.
