The Norfolk Broads Yacht Club (NBYC) hosted the latest Solo dinghy Eastern Series event on Saturday 13th June. The Solos were invited to join the club's dinghy open weekend which culminated in over 100 boats on the water with the Solos being joined on the Saturday by the Streaker class, Gulls, and a large contingent of Fireflys.

In total, eight Solos enjoyed three races in quite challenging conditions, the blustery westerly breeze (possibly one of the worst wind directions on Wroxham Broad) was very shifty and unpredictable providing a challenge for the competitors and the race team alike who set excellent imaginative courses making the best of what the conditions offered.

The Solos enjoyed three very competitive races all of which were eventually won by Matthew Frary. In each race competition was very close throughout the fleet with the numerous shifts providing tactical headaches. The visitors to the club got to grip with the conditions quite quickly with Martin Brooking, David Cronk, Brian Morum and Alan Wright all featuring toward the front of the fleet at times throughout the day.

The next dinghy event at NBYC is Wroxham Week from the 27th July where big dinghy fleets are once again expected, all are welcome.
