Poole Yacht Racing Association's Poole Bay Summer Series - Day 2

Sunday saw 17 yachts, both fully crewed and two handed, from Poole lining up for race 2 of the new Poole Bay Summer Series. The weather was looking light. In fact the forecasts for some days prior had all been showing a NW swinging to S and dropping to between 1 abd 5 knots during the race period. Not a good omen.
I set up the CB near Rig Shop and waited to see what the wind was going to do fully expecting to AP the start. To my great surprise the wind had gone round to 160' and was a steady 7 - 10k.
With this we set up the start sequence on time for the 11.00 start. Start line was CB to Rig Shop, a beat to Stoneways, port to Jenkins the jibe mark and then in to Branksome Outfall to port and on to the beat back through the start line giving them twice round and opportunities to shorten if the wind died or carried on going left.
Remarkably the wind held steady in both strength and direction.
