The Boating Industry Association (BIA) acknowledged the formal announcement by global event organiser Informa regarding a new boat show for Sydney, scheduled to take place at Darling Harbour in the winter of 2027. "The BIA has been in liaison with Informa and acknowledges the intention to showcase the outstanding quality and innovation of the Australian boating industry," said BIA CEO Andrew Fielding.

In the meantime, the BIA is fully focused on delivering the upcoming 2026 Sydney International Boat Show, running from 30 July to 2 August at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. The highly anticipated event is set to feature hundreds of boats and accessories across the hall space which is on its way to being sold out.

Informa's new event is called the Australian International Boat Show, to be held in Darling Harbour, 29 July 2027. They promise a world-class boating and lifestyle event for both the recreational boating public and the marine industry.

The Marina Industries Association is excited to launch the new Dock Operations Course, a practical two-day program designed for professionals with 1-3 years of industry experience seeking to build their operational knowledge and develop leadership skills. Held at Broken Bay on 23-24 June, the course provides participants with a broader understanding of marina operations and prepares them for future career progression.

For decades, yacht clubs have relied on a significant amount of manpower, increasingly difficult to sustain. Now sailors have less free time and volunteer pools are shrinking. Yet expectations for high-quality race management continue to rise. Fortunately, a new generation of race management technology is helping: robotic race marks, integrated wind sensors, automated race management systems and GPS-enabled performance tracking.

From the Boating Industry Association in Victoria, the Boating Careers team continues to actively promote careers in the marine industry. On 26 May, they attended the OELLEN Careers Expo in Scoresby, engaging with more than 2,000 attendees and showcasing the diverse range of career opportunities available across the boating sector. Two days later, the team was at the VET Discovery Expo hosted by Hume Whittlesea LLEN, connecting with more than 440 students from 17 schools and introducing them to pathways into the marine industry.

BIA congratulates Savwinch, named the AIMEX Exporter of the Year at the recent Australian Marine Industry Awards, recognising the company's exceptional international growth, innovation and contribution to the global industry. The award highlights Savwinch's rapid expansion across key markets including North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, alongside strong momentum that saw international sales grow by more than 120% in 2025. The recognition reinforces Savwinch's position as a global leader in drum winching technology and marine equipment.
