Following the outstanding success of the Royal Thames Yacht Club's 250th Anniversary Regatta in 2025, the club is delighted to announce that the event will return as the 250 Regatta on the 10th to 13th June 2027 in Cowes and become a biannual fixture on the sailing calendar.

The inaugural event in 2025 attracted over 250 boats, across 16 classes, including nine national championships, three area championships and the historic 1776 Cumberland cup for classic yachts and cruisers. Over the course of the event 108 races were competed across five racecourses with more than 1,200 sailors representing 40 nations. The result was highly competitive racing on the water and a vibrant atmosphere ashore in the Race Village. The Regatta Dinner and Crew Party described as "the two hottest tickets in town.

Award winning journalist Magnus Wheatley described it as "a most remarkable summer festival of sail on the Solent," and Yachts & Yachting highlighted the "incredible calibre of boats competing" and the presence of Olympic medallists, America's Cup sailors and Admiral's Cup contenders.

Tom Partridge, Chair of the 250 Regatta planning group said, "The Royal Thames Yacht Club is thrilled to bring back the format of the 250th Anniversary Regatta in 2027 as the 250 Regatta, combining top-class racing, expert race management and the unforgettable after-racing parties for which the Club is famed."

Tim Hancock, Principal Race Officer said, "Following the successful format of last year’s regatta, I am exciting to start working on pulling together our 250 Regatta. Every class who took part last year, has said that they want to come back in 2027, which is probably the best endorsement an organiser can have. We will announce the final line up of classes later in the year. Once again, we will be working with a number of Cowes and Solent based clubs to deliver an outstanding on the water experience for everyone”

Building on the momentum of 2025, the 250 Regatta will continue to combine top-level racers, classic and cruiser yachts with a fantastic social programme.

Further details, including Notice of Race, entry information and social tickets, will be announced soon.
