Cancer Diagnosis to Solo Atlantic Crossing - Preparing a Sigma 33

by Magnus Smith 13 Jun 13:19 BST

Earlier in 2026, when diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Luke Rossiter set himself an ambitious goal: to complete a solo Atlantic sailing crossing later in the same year.

This week we heard from him, "I recently started work on my Sigma 33 at Willett Built, Southampton. The keel, rudder and mast had to be removed. I’ve captured some of the work carried out to date in this video."

The Atlantic crossing will raise funds for two charities - Cancer Research UK and REST (Repatriation Services Trust) - which both provide vital support to individuals and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
