Rudyard Lake Sailing Club's ILCA open for the Northern Series was held on Saturday 6th June. We welcomed the sailors with perfect wind conditions on the lake, a nice south-easterly with some strong gusts to give them added challenges.

For the third year in a row, the ILCAs shared the lake alongside the Northern Phantom Fleet, which once again added a positive vibe to the event.

Fourteen ILCAs entered the Open across all rigs, and the RO gave them a long course with lots of fast reaches on the downwind leg. The racing did not disappoint, and everyone enjoyed a hard day's racing in the conditions.

The first race was won by Ian Jones, followed by Tim Keighley and then Gordon Riddell. Everyone worked hard with a few spills and thrills throughout the race.

The Café, Mini Beans at the lake, our Galley, then provided a well deserved lunch for everyone before heading back out for Races 2 and 3 with the wind easing as the afternoon went on.

After lunch, Ian won the second race, again Tim finished second and Alex Horseman coming through to take third. The final race, as the wind eased, the fleet came closer together, with Wendy Jones taking the win, with Ian Jones opting not to race, Alex coming in second and Paul Keeling coming third.

After racing a prize-giving was held, sponsored by Sailboat Rigging Systems. With the bar open, all sailors were happy after having been challenged by good wind conditions and the enjoyable long course.
