2026 Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta - Day 3

by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda 29 May 20:10 BST 26-30 May 2026

Day three of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta brought the light south-easterly breezes forecast by the main weather models, veering to north-east as the day progressed.

The staggered start sequence got under way at 1.40 p.m., with the Race Committee setting a clockwise coastal course of approximately 11 miles - starting and finishing off the island of Caprera, after passing through the Passo delle Bisce strait and a mark in the Gulf of Saline.

Victory in the Blue division today went to Inoui, a Briand 108 owned by YCCS member Marco Vogele, with Gavin Brady on tactics. Moat was penalised following a protest and finished second, alongside the 39-metre Tripp yacht Cervo, but retains the lead in the provisional overall standings heading into the final day.

In the White division, the Southern Wind 96 Liberty Squared replicated yesterday's win and retains first place overall, ahead of the Dubois 100 Nostromo and the Southern Wind 94 Magic Blue, owned by YCCS member Tonino Cacace and with two-time Olympic gold medallist Luis Doreste calling tactics. In the Corinthian standings, reserved for superyachts with a limited number of sails, Nostromo leads under the guidance of tactician Jesper Bank, multiple Olympic medallist and America's Cup helmsman. Nostromo is followed by the Southern Wind Magic Blue and Sørvind by Giorgio Armani.

Liberty Squared also heads the Southern Wind Trophy classification ahead of two SW 108s, Gelliceaux and Kalantis, separated by a single point. The yachts taking part in the Southern Wind Rendez-vous sailed the same course as the racing fleet today.

Crews will gather tonight for a Sunset Party at Ea Bianca, while last night the Giorgio's evening by Giorgio Armani, reserved for owners and their guests, was held on the YCCS terrace.

The forecast for tomorrow's final day of racing indicates similarly light winds. At the conclusion of racing, the final prize-giving ceremony will round off the event in Piazza Azzurra, in front of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
