2026 Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta - Day 2

by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda 28 May 19:27 BST 26-30 May 2026

The Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta has so far offered participants back-to-back perfect days on the water. A Mistral wind of around 16 to 18 knots allowed the superyacht fleet to complete a 33-mile coastal race today, sailing clockwise around the outside of the La Maddalena archipelago.

Owners and crews returned to Porto Cervo visibly elated, after one of those days at sea that remind you what sailing is all about. The fleet converged just a few miles after the start and sailed together for the remainder of the course, something far from guaranteed in superyacht racing. In addition to the perfect wind and sea state, sunshine and crisp air added further sparkle to an already exceptional natural backdrop.

In the Blue division, two YCCS members claimed the top two spots today. Juan Ball's Swan 115 Moat repeated yesterday's win, putting in an almost perfect performance and reaching speeds of more than 16 knots on the downwind runs. Marco Vögele's Briand 108 Inoui, with Gavin Brady calling tactics, took second place, followed by the Southern Wind 108 Kalantis in third.

In the provisional standings, Moat leads on just two points, followed by Inoui and Cervo, level on 7 points.

In the White division, the Southern Wind 96 Liberty Squared came out on top ahead of the Southern Wind 94 Magic Blue, with the Dubois 100 Nostromo just 7 seconds behind in third place. Liberty Squared leads the provisional overall standings, followed by Nostromo and Magic Blue. In the Corinthian division, Nostromo and Magic Blue hold first and second place respectively, with SØRVIND by Giorgio Armani in third.

Liberty Squared also leads the Southern Wind Trophy classification, ahead of Morgana and Gelliceaux.

The four yachts taking part in the Southern Wind Rendezvous sailed the same course as the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, albeit in a slightly shorter version and free of ranking obligations. After the start, the boats set off for the Passo delle Bisce strait, bypassing the offset mark three miles to the south-east, before heading upwind towards the La Maddalena Archipelago.

Lighter easterly breezes are forecast for tomorrow. The first starting signal is scheduled for 12 noon CEST.
