Noble Marine Comet Trio Inland Championship 2026 at Llangorse Sailing Club

by Bob Horlock 18 May 14:10 BST 16-17 May 2026

The 16th/17th May saw Llangorse SC stage the Comet Trio Inland Championships as part of a combined event with a Kestrel open meeting. 5 visiting Trios joined 3 club Trios to provide a competitive fleet for both days.

Saturday racing was conducted in light, shifting breezes which swirled round and came from all points of the compass. Race Officer Richard did a brilliant job in getting 3 races away and most of us found the conditions to be very taxing!

However, defending champions Adrian and Tracey Padro from Shustoke SC showed the fleet that, with skill and patience, the race course could be tamed, winning all three races! The chasing pack were trying hard but 7 points behind the runaway leaders they all had very mixed results with the next 4 boats separated by only 3 points.

Both fleets retired to the clubhouse for an excellent evening meal organised by Jackie and a chance to relive the trials and tribulations of the day's sailing.

On Sunday the conditions were much better with a westerly breeze of around 8 kts that still had enough shifts and variations to make life interesting. Llangorse sailors Guy and Jackie took full advantage winning the first race from Sam and Chris who pushed the Padros back into 3rd place.

The final race saw normality restored with Adrian and Tracey winning again despite the excitement provided by a 25kt squall that kept some spinnakers in their chutes and enabled Sam and Chris to test the bathing qualities of Llangorse Lake.

Many thanks to Llangorse SC for an excellent weekend, organised by Guy Davison with great racing under Richard's control and of course thanks to our sponsors, Noble Marine.
