Stoneways Marine 2021 - LEADERBOARD

ILCA Open at Wembley Sailing Club

by Peter Crompton 13 May 13:41 BST 10 May 2026

A 15mph North Easterly blowing down the Welsh Harp gave a fantastic beat down the whole lake then back to a two-mark leeward gate close to the dam wall.

Roger Wilson was an early casualty with a big gust snapping his mast.

ILCA 7

Race 1
Simon Hamnett (Papercourt SC), john Curran and Will MacDonald were in front at the windward mark. Will capsized close to the leeward gate. The lead changed several times with Simon finally winning from John, Joe Cic and Neil Crosby (Bowmoor).

Race 2
Julian Bradley led the fleet to the first mark and down the run but capsized at the leeward mark letting Joe and Richard Bettes (Fishers Green) through. John passed them both on the beat and they finished in that order. Simon was forced to retire from this race.

Race 3
With all to play for John, Will and Simon were ahead on the first beat. Joe caught the group on the run.

John got clear on the last beat with Simon, Will and Joe battling it out. Joe got ahead in the final 200m to finish second behind John followed by Will and Simon.

ILCA 6

Adeel Khan (WHSC) won all three races from Hugh Leach (Reading SC), Andrzej Bijarski (Aylesbury SC) and Michael James (Papercourt SC).

The first woman was Peishan Huang in an ILCA 6. and the first in the Legend category was Mark Heretier.
