The Explora Journeys Swiss SailGP Team opened a new era this weekend in Bermuda, racing for the first time in the colours of new Title Partner Explora Journeys at the Apex Group Bermuda Sail Grand Prix.
Under sunny skies, strong gusty breeze and flat-water racing conditions, the Explora Journeys Swiss SailGP Team showed consistent pace across the opening day, remaining firmly in contention throughout the fleet during the first four races of the weekend.
The event also marked the debut of the team's new visual identity, with a fully redesigned F50 catamaran and new sailing and onshore kit unveiled in Bermuda. The new look reflects the partnership between Explora Journeys and the Swiss team combining Swiss precision, performance and premium innovation on one of the fastest race circuits in sport.
"Perfect racing here in Bermuda, with good shifts and conditions where we could really push the boat to the maximum," said Sébastien Schneiter. "Absolutely beautiful conditions. We're excited for the future with Explora Journeys as our new title partner. Having a partner that believes in our long-term vision gives the whole team enormous energy."
Day two brought a completely different challenge, with lighter winds and difficult foiling conditions testing the fleet throughout the afternoon. The Explora Journeys Swiss SailGP Team adapted well, delivering some of its most complete racing performances of the season so far, including an impressive second-place finish in one of the most technical races of the weekend.
The team closed the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix in fifth overall, tied on points with fourth place, after another strong comeback performance in the final race.
Traditionally, unstable conditions have not been where the Swiss team performs best, making the progress shown in Bermuda an encouraging sign heading deeper into the season.
"We set ourselves the goal this weekend to improve our communication and execution in lighter conditions, and we managed to do that in most races," added Schneiter. "There was great energy onboard all weekend. The racing was intense, but the team stayed calm and connected. It feels special to start this new chapter in the colours of Explora Journeys. SailGP is a long season, momentum can shift quickly, and this weekend showed the direction this team is heading."
