The RYA is seeking applications from mixed teams who would like to represent GBR at the Offshore Double Handed World Championship 2026.

The event will take place in Marseille, France, from 23 September-2 October 2026, with nations invited to nominate up to two teams.

A Notice of Selection has been published by the RYA Racing Department and teams are invited to register their interest by the deadline of 21 May 2026.

The 2026 edition of the event will be hosted by the Cercle Nautique & Touristique du Lacydon (CNTL) of Marseille, the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC), Cap Regatta, and the Yacht Club de France, with support of the Fédération Française de Voile (FFV).

Racing will be held in a charter fleet of Sun Fast 30 One Designs with the competition structure consisting up to two qualification races, a repechage round and a winner-takes-all final race.

Read the event Notice of Race and more about the championship.

Selection process

The selection committee tasked with finding teams for Great Britain will comprise representatives of the RYA, RORC and UK Double Handed Offshore.

The aim is to find sailors with the best prospects of winning medals at this, or future Offshore Double Handed World Championships.

Teams must have one male and one female sailor, meet the requirements in the Notice of Race, be eligible to sail for GBR and be members of the RYA.

Potential entrants should note that World Sailing's deadline of 1 June 2026 for nomination of teams by Member National Authorities significantly compresses the selection process and precludes holding specific selection events. Selection will be based on Doublehanded/solo race results.

Read the RYA Notice of Selection and submit your expression of interest by 21 May 2026.
