Haversham Sailing Club Open Day a Resounding Success

Haversham Sailing Club welcomed nearly 200 visitors to its annual open day on Saturday 2nd May, with the event proving a tremendous success despite the light winds on offer.

In total, 190 guests were taken out on the water — a remarkable achievement given the conditions — with club members working tirelessly throughout the day to ensure every visitor got afloat. The gentle breeze, while not enough to set pulses racing, provided ideal conditions for newcomers to experience sailing for the first time.

The turnout underlined the club's commitment to growing the sport and opening its doors to the wider community. Visitors ranged from curious first-timers to families looking to get involved in sailing for the season ahead.

Club Commodore Patrick Pakes said it was great to see so many people interested in the sport. We had club sailors aged from 12 to 77 taking members of the public out on the water and it was fantastic to see the whole club coming together to make the day happen.

Anyone inspired by the open day is encouraged to contact Haversham Sailing Club directly to find out more about membership, beginner courses, and upcoming events.
