Grafham Water Sailing Club has been formally recognised as an RYA British Sailing Pathway Club, highlighting the club's commitment to developing young sailors and supporting the future of the sport.

The recognition places Grafham Water Sailing Club among a select group of clubs across the UK that play a key role in introducing young people to racing and helping them progress through the early stages of competitive sailing. The programme focuses on building strong sailing skills, encouraging confidence on the water, and creating enjoyable racing opportunities for young sailors within a supportive club environment.

Mark Rushton, Commodore of Grafham Water Sailing Club, said:

"Being recognised as an RYA British Sailing Pathway Club is a significant achievement for Grafham Water Sailing Club. It reflects the dedication and hard work of our former Commodore Hilary Talbot, our instructors, volunteers and members who have helped create an environment where young sailors can learn, improve and enjoy the sport."

Matt French, Chief Instructor at the club, added:

"This recognition acknowledges the strength of the coaching and training opportunities we provide for young sailors. We are proud of the progress our junior sailors continue to make and look forward to developing even more opportunities for them in the years ahead."

Through its involvement in the programme, Grafham Water Sailing Club will continue to expand its youth development activities, providing structured training, coaching and racing opportunities that support young sailors as they build their skills and confidence on the water.

The club's youth section continues to grow, with increasing numbers of young sailors taking part in training sessions, club racing and regional events such as the Cambridgeshire Youth League.
