Saturday morning saw sailors arriving and rigging boats at the quaint Itchenor Sailing Club excited to go racing in the first event of 2026.

The air buzzed with anticipation as families and friends gathered on the decking, chatting and catching up. The crisp breeze promised exhilarating conditions on the water, perfect for testing skills honed over countless hours of practice.

With our Class Sponsor Rooster onsite sailors and parents were overjoyed to snag their favourite Rooster gear, thankful for the brand's cosy and reliable kit.

The club's sailing manager, Ryan, and the Race Officer Roger Heath welcomed everyone at the competitors' briefing. With tallies registered the sailors launched ready to embark on the first of many thrilling races of the season.

Race 1 kicked off with flair: Cass Day and Harry O'Callaghan from Gurnard Sailing Club and Royal Victoria Yacht Club snagged the top spot. Hot on their heels were Hannah Yates and Fallon Day from Gurnard Sailing Club, with Henry Ross and Matthew Willcox from Netley Sailing Club claiming third.

Race 2 saw Cass and Harry snag another victory, followed by Torben Brown and Finn Tarrant from Sevenoaks School, with Hannah Yates and Fallon Day in third.

Race 3 was off to a flying start with Thomas Hill and Edward Knowles from Royal Lymington Yacht Club claiming victory, Cass and Harry in second, and Henry Ross and Matthew Willcox nabbing third.

Race 4 had Cass and Harry back in the winner's circle, with Phoebe Greenhalgh and Megan Gowers from PDSC in second, and Iris Tsitoura Pearce and Ava Popova from Sevenoaks School in third.

After four exhilarating races, sailors were sending it back to the club for a hearty meal and a fun quiz night.

Sunday morning greeted the sailors with sunshine and a chilly breeze, reminding everyone it's still March but no match for the sailors' determination to race, learn, and have a blast!

Race 5 saw a tricky start to day 2, with the tide pulling the fleet over the line, causing a general recall. On the second try, the sailors were off! Cass and Harry were victorious once again, with Hannah Yates and Fallon Day in second, and the Ritchie brothers, Cameron and Finlay, from Aberdeen & Stonehaven Yacht Club in third.

Race 6 kept the momentum with Cass and Harry at the helm, Cameron and Finlay in second, and Thomas Hill and Edward Knowles in third.

Race 7, the grand finale, saw Cass and Harry taking the crown once more, making it six out of seven wins. Bravo, boys! Thomas Hill and Edward Knowles secured second, with Torben Brown and Finn Tarrant in third.
