4th Cascais J/70 Winter Series at Clube Naval de Cascais

The Clube Naval de Cascais hosted the 4th Cascais J/70 Winter Series from March 20 to 22, 2026, bringing together 18 teams from 8 nations for another highly competitive stage of the winter circuit.
Day 1 - Light air, rain squalls and tactical pressure
The opening day presented challenging conditions, with 8 knots of south-Esterly breeze, 2-3 metre swell. The unstable wind, combined with low clouds, created a highly tactical racecourse where positioning and anticipation of pressure lines were critical.
Race 1 saw the italian J Curve, of Mauro Roversi, execute a clean start and control the fleet on the first beat, taking the bullet ahead of Another Affair from Oliveira's familiy and the locals SailCascais of Vasco Serpa.
In Race 2, the fleet saw a complete reshuffle. The finish team Liquid Sun, of Victor Mesterton, found better pressure across the course and extended on the downwind legs to secure the victory, followed by the Ukrainian team Odessa, Ilya Pavlov and Solid Fun of Lucas Kalermo.
Race 3 proved decisive for the day's standings. Solid Fun read the rain squall perfectly, committing early to the left-hand side of the course and benefiting from a key wind shift to take the win. Serpa's, SailCascais, secured second, while Bábá of Nuno Espirito Santo Silva, rounded out the top three.
At the end of Day 1:

3rd - POR 725 - SailCascais - Vasco Serpa
Lucas Karlemo (FIN 787 - Solid Fun): "You know, the wind was dying all day, and we had clouds and rain coming through. It was really tricky to decide when to go left or right. We tried to keep our eyes outside the boat and follow where the wind was coming from. In the last race, we saw a big rain cloud moving left and expected a shift — that was probably the key decision for us."
Day 2 - Current, shifts and unpredictable breeze
The forecast suggested no racing, but Cascais delivered once again. The fleet raced in 7-12 knots of shifting breeze, with strong current playing a major role and waves still running at 2-3 metres.
Race 4 went to the second boat on the overall, Liquid Sun, who managed the balance between current and pressure effectively, holding off Jelvis, helmed by Martin Dent, and Solid Fun, the first day overall leaders.
Race 5 saw Serpa's, SailCascais, take control, executing a strong start and maintaining positioning through a complex upwind leg. Roversi's - J Curve followed in second, with José Paulo Ramada- AP Hotels in third.
In Race 6, Nuno Espirito Santo Silva, Bábá, delivered a composed performance in the shifting breeze to take the win, ahead of the british team Jelvis and Another Affair.
Giulia Conti (ITA 1090 - J Curve): "It was a very tricky day. Very strong current, increasing throughout the day. The wind was rotating constantly to the right, so it was always a balance between current and shifts. Our tactician did a very good job playing the shifts, and the boat speed was good."

Day 3 - Light breeze brings early conclusion
The final day the wind didn't help. Racing was attempted, but during Race 7 the wind dropped significantly, forcing the Race Committee to abandon the race with Baba's on the lead. With no stable breeze returning, no further races were sailed, leaving the standings unchanged.

3rd - POR 725 - SailCascais - Vasco Serpa
Mauro Roversi (ITA 1090 - J Curve): "This was our second event here. Compared to the last one, we had lighter wind and very difficult conditions, with shifting breeze and waves coming from different directions. We were quite consistent, with a win, a second place and several solid results. The team performed very well, and we always enjoy sailing in Cascais."
