With the start of a new sailing season approaching, we are delighted to announce that Anthony Middleton has been appointed as Club Manager replacing Sally Gostelow, Sailing Secretary and working alongside Maureen Bush, volunteer Club Manager as he takes over her role gradually over the rest of this club year. We believe that Anthony will bring a blend of business experience and appreciation of the strengths of the club.

Anthony commented, "I joined Whitstable Yacht Club and did my first course a few months before we even moved here in July 2024 as I was sure it would help my family settle into what was a big move. Whilst I sailed yachts for a while in my thirties I had never been drawn to dinghy sailing. However, with the fantastic set up at the club; great instructors, loads of opportunities to sail, access to equipment and the warm welcome from members, I am now the proud owner of a Topaz and have managed not to come last in at least one race!

"I am really looking forward to getting started in my new role and hope to get to know everyone. I have been an owner and manager of my businesses for over thirty years and the opportunity to use this experience to help run such a wonderful organisation as Whitstable Yacht Club is genuinely a privilege."

Commodore David Figgis said, "We thank Sally and Maureen for supporting the club through more turbulent periods into the relatively peaceful waters of today and welcome Anthony to take over development of the club as we approach its 125th anniversary in 2027. We have just launched the 2026 sailing programme with booking for training courses now open and places are going fast!"

No upsetting the weather gods this year! There has been a feeling amongst the Wanderer fleet that someone in the near past has done something to upset the weather gods.
