The Gippsland Lakes region will welcome a major new boating event in 2026, with the inaugural Gippsland Lakes Boat Show set down for Paynesville.

The show will position the historic boating town as a key destination on Victoria's marine industry calendar, capitalising on the region's reputation as one of Australia's premier inland waterway systems.

Set against a backdrop of sparkling rivers, sweeping lakes and wide-open waterways, the Gippsland Lakes Boat Show brings the boating lifestyle to life in an authentic lakeside setting.

"This isn't just a boat show, as part of the Paynesville Classic Boat Rally, it's a celebration of everything that makes Gippsland Lakes one of Australia's premier boating destinations," said Steve Walker, CEO of the Boating Industry Association of Victoria.

"From koala-filled Raymond Island to waterfront restaurants, cruising adventures and fishing hot spots, visitors can experience great locations like Metung, Lakes Entrance and Lake Tyers. It's the perfect excuse to turn a boat show visit into a long-weekend escape or a day long visit."

The boat show, as part of the Rally, will feature an amazing display of boats and boating accessories, traditional parades, heritage vessels, on-water demonstrations, sea trials, lifestyle exhibitors, family activities, music and the lively atmosphere of a lakeside car show, all in one picturesque waterfront location.

The 2026 Gippsland Lakes Boat Show will coincide with two of Paynesville's most popular events - the Paynesville Classic Boat Rally and the Raymond Island Car and Bike Show - creating a memorable festival-style weekend across the region.
