It was a stacked Penultimate Day of racing at the 2026 Warren Jones International Regatta, with the Round Robin and Quarter Finals complete and the Semi Finals started.

The Quarter Finals was hotly contested with all matches tightly challenged in a lighter sea breeze on the Swan River.

Matias Rossing from the Royal Danish Yacht Club was selected by Josh Hyde from the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron for the Quarter Final match up which Rossing described as a "really tight match".

Rossing ultimately came out on top, 3-1 against Hyde and progressed through to the Semi Finals where he came up against Cole Tapper from the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.

Building on his momentum from the Quarter Finals, Rossing is currently 2-0 to Tapper with the remainder of the Semi Finals races to be sailed this afternoon.

Competing against Tapper, current World Open Ranking 3, Rossing had his work cut out for him in the first two races.

"We struggled a bit in the starts with getting a penalty, we had to spin it to win it, and it was the closest finish I've ever had in a match race" he said.

Daniel Kemp from the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club came up against Ben Crafoord from the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in the Quarter Finals with a hotly contested series which saw Kemp come out on top 3-0.

Kemp said, "it was a tight series, a lot tighter than the score card says".

Semi Finals saw Kemp come up against local team Marcello Torre from the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club.

Kemp and Torre sit 1-1 in the first two races of the Semi Finals with the final races to be completed later today.

Finals Day kicks off this afternoon with sailors hitting the water at 1345 to complete the Consolidation Series before Semi Finals at 1500.
