Liv Hägström tops the 2025 WASZP Women's Global Rankings

Swedish WASZP All-Star Liv Hägström ends 2025 at the top of the table, narrowly finishing ahead of Hawaii's Pearl Lattanzi.
Lattanzi took the women's WASZP Games and Women's Sprint titles in 2025, but Hägström's collection of top performances across Tier 3 events in Europe gave her the edge by the time the year was up. Italy's Olivia Castaldi ended the year in third on the rankings. The strength of the women's scene in Scandinavia shines through on the Global Rankings, with three Swedes and four Norwegians among the top 10!

Bergamasco finishes 2025 as Number 1
No surprises here - Italy's Federico Bergamasco winds up at the top of the Men's Global Rankings for 2025. Other than the Pre-Games (where one may assume the Italian was easing up before the main event), Federico scored a podium result in every event of the season, which continually added points to his tally. Of course, the deciding moment of the season was Bergamasco's hard-fought victory at the WASZP Games!
If Bergamasco wasn't winning, Spain's Pablo Astiazaran probably was. Astiazaran's season highlights include a win at the 130-boat Foiling Week in Garda, silver at the Games, and the top step at the EuroCup Final in December. Gavin Ball of Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, took the final spot on the rankings podium. Ball has been the dominant force in North America in recent years, proven by the three Americas Titles to his name, alongside a SailGP Inspire championship and a large collection of domestic wins. Another notable success from 2025 is Canadian Andrew Chisholm, who claimed the WASZP Games Junior title in a year where the youngster's performances launched to a world-class level.

Andrian and Castaldi win the 6.9 Global Rankings in a show of Italian dominance
Jacopo Andrian has been at the top of the 6.9 fleet throughout 2025, having excelled domestically and committing to a host of international events as part of the DryLaps outfit. Andrian ended 2025 streets ahead of his rivals on the point tally, with his sights now set on the 2026 Games title in Pensacola. Fellow Italians Pietro Moncada and Riccardo Billé finished second and third in the men's 6.9 division.
In the women's 6.9 division, 6.9 WASZP Games Champion Olivia Castaldi topped the tables ahead of Switzerland's Lena Fries. Castaldi did compete in a handful of events on a bigger sail during the season, so the delta to Fries is much closer than the points suggest. Clarissa Vedovelli, also from Italy, finished the year third on the women's podium, just seven points ahead of Great Britain's Imogen Green.
Italy has developed an excellent WASZP program across the pathway of WASZP rigs, and the results show it, with eight of the world's top ten 6.9 athletes coming from Italia. How many future WASZP champions are we going to see flying the green, white and red?
