The last time Etchells did Cork Week was in 1990 - the year the QE2 first visited Cork. The QE2 retired in 2008 but the Etchells class continues to prosper in the UK, the USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Canada and New Zealand.

A couple of diehard Etchells sailors in Cork have encouraged the UK Fleet to hold their European Championships in conjunction with Cork Week 2026 which runs from July 6th to 10th. Crosshaven House has been secured as accommodation for the bulk of the crews and there is plenty of other accommodation available locally at reasonable prices.

A significant number of Cowes based boats have already committed and there are excellent charter boats available from the Cowes fleet for overseas entrants.

The Royal Cork Yacht Club is looking forward to welcoming back the Etchells class and is committed to providing excellent racing on the course which has been used for many past world championships.
