We are delighted to announce the next Mirror World Championships will be hosted by Poole Yacht Club from 24th - 30th July 2027.

The class has had a huge national resurgence of late and looks set to continue this trend over the coming years. Combined with a good dose of international entries we are expecting to hit that utopian target of 100+ boats for the event!

Poole Yacht Club last hosted a major Mirror Championship in 2006, when we welcomed 109 boats for the Nationals & Europeans. The event was superb and needless to say we are aiming even bigger and better for this one.

Some early (and provisional) details to whet your appetite....

Proposed Schedule:

DateSailingSocial
Saturday 24th JulyRegistration & MeasurementParade from the quay followed by Commodore's reception
Sunday 25th JulyRacingBeach Olympics
Monday 26th JulyRacing"Countries Night" followed by BBQ
Tuesday 27th JulyRacingSplashdown Water Park
Wednesday 28th JulyFlexible Lay‑DayDay off to explore Poole & the Jurassic Coast
Thursday 29th JulyRacingTBC (options to potentially include Harbour Boat Tour / Slip & Slide / RNLI tour)
Friday 30th JulyRacingPrizegiving dinner & band

One of the social highlights included in entry will be the private evening hire of Splashdown Water Park for all competitors.

We provisionally have our Yacht Club regatta scheduled for the weekend before the Worlds (17-18th July) where we run a dedicated Mirror Open Meeting alongside our club classes. This is run off a committee boat with laid race marks and will serve as a mini "pre-worlds" warm up event for those who wish to attend. Visiting and international boats will be very welcome to participate at this event and will be allowed to leave their boats at the club ready for Worlds the following week.

We plan to secure nearby camping for those who wish to, as well as space for campervans / motorhomes. Additional parking and space for shipping containers bringing international boats will be made available adjacent to the club, as well as a large on-site marquee to complement the main clubhouse in hosting measurement and socials.

Excitingly, we are also planning on running a separate "Cruising Fleet" alongside the main Worlds race fleet. Poole Harbour with its five islands and sandy beaches is perfect for cruising a Mirror dinghy and an organised sail, supported by safety boats, will be arranged for each day the Worlds racing is scheduled, depending on conditions. This fleet will ideally suit the many Mirror sailors who prefer to fit rollocks rather than spinnakers, as well as for parents sailing with young kids not yet ready for full-on racing.

We can't wait to make this one of the pinnacle sailing events of 2027, so please put it in your diary, you won't want to miss it!

If you haven't yet got a Mirror why on earth not? You have 20 months to get this sorted and be on that start line!

Event website and "expression of interest / early entry" to follow in due course...
