The 36th annual Starcross Steamer sponsored by Exe Sails will take place on Sunday 11th January 2026, this is a race not to miss. Up to 80 monohulls are able to enter the classic pursuit race format where boats start in order of slowest to fastest and all finish together.

The first start will be at 10:30am, with a 150 minute race sailing through high water at 11:39am (height 3.1m). You can be sure of a warm welcome at the club where food and drink will be available in the galley from 8:00am, so why not bring the whole family. The club grounds will be open from 7:30am with the competitor briefing at 9:30am.

Entry to the Steamer can only be made via the website and this will open around midday on the 15th of December. The Sailing Instructions, Notice of Race, Handicap Numbers and Consent Forms are also available on the club website and you will also be able to view the entered competitor lists.

See www.starcrossyc.org.uk/syc-events

Due to the popularity of the event we have to limit the number of entries to 80 and the website will automatically advise you if you are on the waiting list. Should you enter and subsequently find that you are unable to attend, we would appreciate you letting us know so that your entry can be given to the next person on the waiting list. The website will not accept entries after midnight on the 8th of January, so make sure to get your entry in as soon as possible.

As the club is in a remote location, the entrance gate is kept locked. However, should you wish to drop your boat off at the club the day before the event or even camp at the club overnight (bearing in mind the main London-Plymouth railway line runs adjacent to the club), please get in touch using the contact form, via the link above. Also please note that the entrance to the club is under a low bridge, so vehicles over 1.55m such as 4x4s and people carriers will have to be parked outside the club, where there is also plenty of room.

We do hope you can come along in January and we look forward to seeing you.
