29er Eurocup 2025 Final at Fraglia Vela Riva - Day 1

by 29er Class 25 Oct 2025 22:59 BST 25-28 October 2025

The 2025 29er EuroCup - The Finals officially kicked off today in Riva Del Garda.

As per long-standing tradition, the event is hosted by Fraglia Vela Riva in collaboration with the 29er International Class Association, which has chosen the Alto Garda once again as the venue for the closing act of its highly popular circuit.

Over the course of ten events, the 2025 EuroCup has gathered nearly 300 teams, confirming the remarkable growth and widespread appeal of this high-performance doublehanded youth class — a true stepping stone towards any other high-level sailing discipline.

This year marks a quick return to Riva del Garda for the 29er fleet, just a few months after the fiercely contested European Championship, won by the German brothers Lucas and Moritz Hamm.

Day #1 Leaders

For the opening day of The Finals, which has drawn an impressive 150 teams, Lake Garda delivered a late but fresh Ora wind, allowing the Race Committee, led by Adolfo Villani, to complete four races on one course and three on the other. By the end of the day, a provisional ranking was compiled based on the three races valid for all fleets.

At the top of the leaderboard are Alexandre Mostini and Raphael Allain from France, who dominated the Yellow fleet with three bullets. In second place are Jacob Ryiu Brundler and Thierry Stucki from Switzerland, who consistently finished second in the same group.

Third overall are Swiss sailors Ikke Huber and Liam Berger, who already took bronze at this year's Europeans. Szymon Kolka and Batosz Zmudinski from Poland, currently third in the overall EuroCup ranking, sit in fourth position after finishing 10th at both the Europeans and the Worlds in Porto last August — an event won by Norway's Niklas Holt and Philip Forlsund, who today appeared slightly off the pace compared to their rivals.

Completing the Top 5 are Ella Durr and Eskil Kaufmann from Switzerland, currently the best female team in the standings.

What's next

Tomorrow, the fleets will return to the water with the goal of equalizing the number of races sailed: groups needing to complete their fourth race are scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m., while the others will hit the water at 11:00 a.m.

The 2025 29er EuroCup - The Finals will conclude on Tuesday afternoon with the prize-giving ceremony, following the completion of the qualifying rounds and the final races for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze fleets.
