Transat Café L'or: Three Ocean Fifty trimarans capsize

Saturday 25th October 20:27 UTC - The Ocean Fifty Lazare X Hellio capsizes off La Hague.

Both skippers are safe and sound.

At the beginning of the night, at 8:27 p.m. UTC (10:27 p.m. local time), the Race Management of the TRANSAT CAFÉ L'OR was informed by the CROSS that the distress beacon of the Ocean Fifty Lazare X Hellio — which had set off just a few hours earlier at 4:30 p.m. — had been activated.

The 15-meter trimaran capsized about 3 miles off the coast, north of La Hague (Cotentin). Both skippers, Erwan Le Draoulec and Tanguy Le Turquais, are safe and were airlifted.

The SNSM went out to mark the boat's position. The Race Management, the boat's technical team, and the skippers are working together on a plan to tow the vessel to a port.

Weather conditions in the area were rough, with steady winds of 22 to 25 knots, gusts up to 30 knots, and 3-meter waves.

Sunday 26th October 00:25 UTC - Capsize of the Ocean Fifty Koesio

At 00:25 UTC (2:25 a.m. local time), the race management of the TRANSAT CAFÉ L'OR was informed of the capsize of the Ocean Fifty Koesio north of Guernsey.At the time, the boat was in 8th position and sailing in a 25-knot northerly wind with 2.5-meter waves.

Erwan Leroux and Audrey Ogereau are safe and in good health.

The two skippers were airlifted and taken to CROSS Jobourg (Cotentin Point), where their families will join them.

The MRCC, the race management, and the Koesio technical team are monitoring the drift of the boat and the possibilities of towing.

Sunday 26th October 4:05 UTC - Capsize the Ocean Fifty Inter Invest

This Sunday at 4:05 UTC (5:05 local time), the Ocean Fifty Inter Invest, skippered by Matthieu Perraut and Jean-Baptiste Gellée, capsized while 4,475 miles from the finish, off the coast of the Abers (at the tip of Brittany).

Matthieu Perraut and Jean-Baptiste Gellée are safe and in good health. The two skippers were airlifted around 6:00 a.m.

The boat has been secured, and towing operations are currently underway.
