Hayling Island Sailing Club is pleased to announce the election of Sarah Mitchell as our new Commodore following the Annual General Meeting on Sunday 19th October.
Sarah brings a wealth of experience to the role. As an almost lifelong member of the club, Sarah started volunteering over 15 years ago, when she took on Seals, our introduction to water activities for kids. She has served on various committees, uninterrupted from then, becoming Rear Commodore for Youth and then Vice Commodore of Sailing.
Her dedication and leadership within the club community have been widely recognised, and everyone at HISC is looking forward to her guidance and vision as she steps into the Commodore role.
HISC would also like to extend its thanks to outgoing Commodore Graham Williamson for his tireless commitment and service over the past three years, and prior to that as Vice Commodore of Sailing. His leadership has played a key role in driving improvements and strengthening the community spirit within the club.
On her election as Commodore, Sarah commented: "It is a great honour to be elected Commodore, and I am deeply appreciative of the trust and confidence placed in me by our members. HISC is a truly special and distinctive club. While our membership is extensive, I firmly believe we remain united - working collaboratively across all areas of activity and fostering lasting friendships and a strong sense of camaraderie. My goal is to ensure that every member feels valued, welcomed, and included, as there is genuinely something for everyone here. I look forward to building upon the strong foundations established by Graham and to working alongside our exceptional team to continue advancing the club together."
Speaking on behalf of the Club, HISC General Manager, Chris Rainbow, said: "We are delighted to welcome Sarah as our new Commodore. Her dedication and proven leadership within the club make her an excellent choice to guide us into the next chapter. I would also like to personally thank Graham for his outstanding contribution and unwavering commitment over the past three years. His efforts have left a lasting positive impact on the club and its members."
