Vilamoura Sailing, in partnership with Marina de Vilamoura and the International ILCA Class Association, will host the ILCA LA28 Olympic Format Test Event from 7 to 12 October 2025 in Vilamoura, Portugal.

This exclusive event marks an important milestone in defining the future of Olympic sailing, as it brings together elite ILCA sailors from different countries and continents to collaborate, contribute, and test new racing formats for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Over five days of racing, athletes, coaches, and race officials will collaborate closely to evaluate innovative race formats, course configurations, and event structures. Their insights and feedback will play a decisive role in shaping the next generation of Olympic sailing — making this test event a vital part of the sport's evolution.

"Innovation plays a vital role, and the insights of these sailors and coaches will be essential to creating a format that inspires the next generation of Olympic sailing." said Mark Lyttle, Vice President of the International ILCA Class Association.
